My starting point for this assignment was to create an image that looked at my memories of my mother following her recent death. My initial idea for this assignment was to explore my memories of my mother following her death. After a lot of toing and froing, including developing a completely different narrative, I returned to the my original idea. My final image is different from my initial idea in that it looks at my mother’s death from my father’s perspective rather than mine and the narrative it is trying to explore is the notion of loss rather than memory. I took some very rough and ready test shots to try and gauge what exposure I would need for the three shots I have in mind.
