Assignment 4 – A picture is worth a thousand words – tutor feedback

As I expected the feedback from my tutor was uncompromising and can be read here I have never found essay writing easy and I think my tutor’s feedback was basically ‘not interested in what’s happened in the past, sort it out’. He made the point that written work accounts for approximately half the overall mark for the degree course and that if I want to continue then I need to address my issues with essay writing. My initial submission for this assignment was based on a photographer by Alexey Vasilyev. The image is one from a series entitled My Dear Yakutia by Russian photographer Alexey Vasilyev. Vasilyev (1985 -) was born, and still lives, in the Republic of Sahka (Yakutia), a vast region in the north east of the Russia. After graduating in Philology in 2008 he went on to work for a local children’s newspaper The Voice of the North. In looking for a photograph to write about for this assignment I came across the work of Alexey Vasilyev and in particular his series My Dear Yakutia. Vasilyev was born in 1985 in Yatusk, the capital of the Sakha (Yakutia) Repulic in Eastern Russia. The Sakha Repulic is a vast region with an area of just under 1.2 million square miles and a population of under one million.
